Blue Ridge Mountains

As we look forward to November, let’s partner together to make sure everyone has the right to vote. For the next six weeks (get a headstart on Christmas!), if you hire me to paint your house or pet or any subject, the price will be $100 less than usual and 100% of the proceeds will go to organizations that help ensure that everyone who is legally able can register, vote, and have their vote counted. Here are two such commissions I have recently completed. Info here.

Brooklyn Brownstones

This is the Brooklyn brownstone where our granddaughter Maggie, now 1 1/2, spent her first year. If you look closely you can see Maggie, our daughter-in-law Eva and son Andrew in the second floor window. Because there was so much detail, I used watercolor pencils as well as watercolor paint.

House portraits make great Christmas gifts. If you would like to commission one, please let me know soon. Information is here.

Your Home or Cottage

Looking for a very special gift for yourself or someone else? A house portrait will hang on the wall for decades, even after you have moved elsewhere. Here are two examples:

House portraits are $495 for a 16″ x 20″ matted original, $450 for a 11″ x 14″ matted original, ready to slip into a standard sized frame. I work from your photo. Please let me know soon if you are interested for the holidays.

I enjoy sharing my art in this blog for free, but painting is also a part-time job for me, so I appreciate you passing this on to anyone who might be interested.

House Portraits

Original house portraits make great gifts. I have just finished three that people are giving for Christmas, including the one below. I have time to paint one or two more house portraits before Christmas, so let me know right away if you’re interested. Details are here.

Lake Winnipesaukee

For 30 years, we’ve spent the week before Labor Day at Sandy Island Family Camp on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. Everyone has their own little simple cabin — no heat, a bare lightbulb hanging from the ceiling, a short walk to the bathroom. There are two big buildings, the Lodge, and this Dining Hall. We love Sandy Island!

Amy’s House

I’ve been hired to do lots of house portraits on commission, but this was a gift to a wonderful therapist who helped me through the emotional angst (aging, vulnerability) surrounding my double knee replacement last year. I gave Amy this portrait of her house just before Christmas, when the red and green seemed seasonal, and the summer flowers a colorful memory and a hope for next summer.
